I have a post on the New Yorker website about yesterday's historic victories for gay marriage, not to mention the election of the first openly gay senator in American history. Watching Tammy Baldwin's acceptance speech, I couldn't help thinking of Senator Lester Hunt, of Wyoming, who, in 1954, killed himself after Republican colleagues threatened to expose his son's homosexuality. This is real change.
