During my hiatus, I missed a crucial story — the fight to preserve the summer home and composing retreat of Charles Ives. Norman Lebrecht first mentioned the threat to the house in early August; more recently, there have been been reports in the Danbury News-Times and in the Wall Street Journal. If anyone happens to have $1.5 million sitting around unused, the sum could save a major piece of American musical heritage. Watch the Ives Society's Facebook page for updates.
