Gareth Davies, principal flute of the London Symphony, has set up a Twitter account that quotes day by day from an American tour diary kept exactly a century ago by Charles Turner, then the orchestra's timpanist. The anniversary tweets began on March 28th. The transatlantic voyage caused Mr. Turner considerable distress, and America has not been altogether hospitable:
