This moment is inspired by the arrival of ECM's Edition Lockenhaus, a handsome five-CD collection of classic recordings from Gidon Kremer's Lockenhaus Festival. The set includes a fine account of Schulhoff's Duo and a spectacular rendition of his Sextet, one of the finest chamber works of the nineteen-twenties. I was lucky to visit Lockenhaus in 1995.
