I hadn't previously come across Tonicblotter, a Chicago-area blog by a regular concertgoer with sharp ears (and, one assumes, considerable musical training). His report on Gustavo Dudamel's appearance with the Chicago Symphony back in April, in and amongst other reviews, might be useful reading for anyone who believes Dudamel to be some sort of media hype creation. He or she concludes: "As we would say in German: Dudamel is a Jahrhunderttalent – a once-in-a-century talent." I heard the same concert and felt much the same way.
