The best Best-of-2005 list of 2005 would have to be Steve Smith's, and not just because it overlaps with mine in a bunch of places. Any man who leaps from Pierre Boulez to Napalm Death deserves praise — although, to be sure, it's not so great a distance in the end. The worst Best-of-2005 lists would be those of Time and Entertainment Weekly, which make no mention whatsoever of classical music. (Thanks to ACD for the tip.)
